Fishtrap Creek Nature Park

Abbotsford, BC

Catherine Berris & Associates - 1997

This park was built as a large stormwater management facility to minimize downstream flooding caused by urbanization. The plan involved re-alignment of the creek, wetlands, peninsulas and islands, extensive native plantings, and a pedestrian bridge, picnic shelter, and lookout points. Plantings were designed to reflect local conditions and to enhance habitat for fish and wildlife, including an endangered fish species.
