BLOEDEL CONSERVATORY

Queen Elizabeth Park, Vancouver, BC

Bill Livingstone & Dan Matsushita 1969

This geodesic dome is built on the basalt remains of an ancient volcano, and features many exotic plants and birds. A tour of the conservatory begins with the waterfall and pool, continues down into a tropical rainforest environment that features large palm trees and lush groundcover, and then rises to the north through subtropical plantings, ending in an arid, desert area.
