CASSIAR CONNECTOR

Hastings and Cassiar Streets, Vancouver

Catherine Berris Associates Inc. 1992

The Cassiar Connector, a portion of the Trans Canada Highway through the centre of the City of Vancouver, was lowered to pass through a tunnel. The design features: large banks of ivy, 'green' planting walls, and custom-designed sound walls. Forest species were planted on the edges of the interchange by school children as part of the Rotary Heritage Forest.
