MAIN MALL

University of British Columbia, Vancouver Campus

Phillips Farevaag Smallenberg, 2011

This project began with an urban design review of existing Main Mall: the central spine and primary pedestrian corridor on the Point Grey campus. It went on to examine its heritage character and design intent, and the evolution of the space as a Beaux-Arts ordering device. This work was then overlaid with current campus policies, land uses, and examination of this pedestrian artery relative to current and future campus planning considerations. Construction is in progress as of Fall 2011.
