THE SCHOOL OF POPULATION & PUBLIC HEALTH

2206 East Mall, UBC Vancouver Campus

Phillips Farevaag Smallenberg, 2010

The exterior renovation of the School of Population and Public Health re-oriented the building entrance on to East Mall which enhances the public realm along this important campus corridor. The “public face” of the building is highlighted by an architectural canopy and elevated terrace with a reclaimed timber “community table” for encouraging social interaction, and to serve as an outdoor classroom. The terrace is defined by a water channel, referencing Dr. John Snow, the founding father of epidemiology.
