Don Vaughan & Associates Ltd. 1979

In 1977, Norman Hotson Architects and Don Vaughan & Associates formed a design team to establish a contemporary 'public place' for Granville Island. The juxtaposition of activities and land use within the public domain that resulted, reflects a degree of urbanity that has had a lasting public appeal. The order revealed by the physical character of the island takes advantage of historical routes for trucks, rail cars and barges, and the rich pattern of historic ramps, loading docks, large doorways, alleyways, cranes and docks.
