STANLEY PARK STORMWATER TREATMENT MARSH

Stanley Park, Vancouver, BC

PWL Partnership Landscape Architects - 2002

CSLA Regional Honour Award 2002

As part of the Lions Gate Bridge rehabilitation project, the Stanley Park causeway drainage system has been designed to collect all stormwater runoff, and treat the water in an engineered wetland. The stormwater is directed into the soil and planted areas, which in turn facilitates absorption of silt, dissolved metals and nutrients before the resulting discharge flows into Lost Lagoon. The resulting freshwater marsh provides habitat both diversity and productivity.
