John Blair - 1889

Although architect Henry J. Cresswell won a design competition held by the City of Victoria, the development of Beacon Hill Park followed plans prepared by John Blair, a landscape architect from Scotland who was assisted by gardener and rhododendron specialist George Fraser. The project included the construction of carriage ways and paths, the completion of Goodacre Lake with its stone bridge, and extensive plantings at a total cost of $25,000.
